meet regularly to provide services designed to enhance
the community.
Agricultural Committee promotes
the importance and impact of agriculture on the entire
community.
The Ottumwa Area Chamber of
Commerce Co-sponsors the Annual Cow-Calf Conference
since 1971.
Chamber
Ambassadors
celebrate the successes of the businesses in Ottumwa,
Iowa from event kick-offs to grand openings, extending
warm
‘welcomes’ to new faces in the area.
The Ambassadors make between 50 to 60 calls per year
conducting ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, and open
houses.
Business Education Partnership
Committee strengthens the ties between
education and business.
The Ottumwa Area Chamber of
Commerce Co-sponsors the Teen Leaders in Action education
program that involves local high school juniors.
Golf Classic
Committee meets year around to organize
the Chamber’s huge annual summer event.
The Ottumwa Area Chamber of
Commerce sponsors the Annual Chamber Golf Classic.
Home Expo Committee
is responsible for the organization of the annual Home
Expo, which highlights regional home improvement products
and services.
The Ottumwa Area Chamber of
Commerce sponsors the Annual Home Expo giving exposure
to over 80 exhibitors and 4000 visitors.
Public Affairs Committee
works to ensure legislation and local ordinances provide
a better business climate in the greater Ottumwa area.
Successful involvement in governmental
affairs, setting legislative agendas and co-sponsoring
legislative forums.
Shop Ottumwa
Committee brings together area merchants
to promote Ottumwa as a shopping hub.
The Ottumwa Area Chamber of
Commerce promotes member merchants with the sale of
Chamber Bucks which are redeemed exclusively at Chamber
member businesses.
Communications/Publicity/Website
Committee works to improve the image
of the Chamber and its members through improved communications.
The Ottumwa Area Chamber of
Commerce sponsors educational seminars for members in
areas of customer service and human resources.
Transportation
Committee is responsible for addressing
a variety of transportation needs in the area including
highways, public transportation, rail and commercial
air services.
Involvement in transportation
issues involving Highway 63 and the mix-master. Involved
with the Essential Air Service Task Force.
Membership
Retention & Development Committee
has as its mission to retain existing members and to
cultivate new members.
Gene Shultz
Award is given each year to the
Ottumwa resident that demonstrates the qualities
and initiative
to benefit Ottumwa as characterized in the life of
